18th August 2026 Pride in Place: Youth Voice Workshop

As part of the Pride in Place project in Cotmanhay, a youth voice workshop with young people who have attended Parkside High’s summer HAF activity sessions too place. They were given the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and hopes for their local area by having a say how to shape the future of Cotmanhay.

This session encouraged young people to think about what they like and value about Cotmanhay, what makes the area feel special to them, and what they would like to see improved. Through creative and interactive activities, young people identified places that matter to them, discusses experiences of living in the area, and ideas for making Cotmanhay a place where young people feel proud, welcome and listened to. For example, a common theme that we discussed as a group is accessible travel for teenagers in Cotmanhay.

The workshop placed young people’s voices at the centre of the activity, ensuring that their ideas could help shape the Pride in Place project. Young people during the session were encouraged to work together, build on each other’s ideas and identify positive changes they would like to see in their community.

The activity provided an opportunity for young people to have the confidence in expressing their views and demonstrate how they can play an active role in shaping the future of Cotmanhay.

Here are some of the creative work and ideas the young people have shared with the Parkside High youth leaders during the session.
